PCSO Baker has issued a Community Protection Notice (CPN) to a persistent beggar in Wembley following repeated anti-social behaviour. The individual had previously been issued with a Community Protection Warning but breached the warning on three occasions in a single day. The subject was regularly approaching members of the public on Wembley High Road, causing obstruction to the footway and openly stating that money requested from members of the public would be used to purchase Class A drugs. Despite being offered support and referral services, these were repeatedly declined. The Community Protection Notice contains four conditions designed to prevent further anti-social behaviour and protect residents, businesses and visitors. Any breach of these conditions during the next six months may result in the individual being arrested and brought before the courts. PCSO Baker has also issued a Community Protection Warning (CPW) to a second persistent beggar operating on Wembley High Road. The individual has been repeatedly reported for causing harassment, alarm and distress to members of the public by persistently approaching people for money and shouting at them when requests are refused. During engagement with officers, the subject openly stated that he was begging to fund his drug habit. Officers offered support and signposted the individual to relevant support services however, these offers were declined. Checks revealed that the subject had already been issued with three Anti-Social Behaviour Warning Notices within the previous 12 months for similar behaviour. Despite previous interventions, the behaviour has continued and has had a detrimental impact on residents, businesses and visitors using Wembley High Road. PCSO Baker detained a male on Wembley High Road after recognising him as being wanted by the courts. PCSO Baker conducted checks which confirmed that the male was wanted for failing to appear at court in relation to theft and assault offences. The male was detained at the scene and subsequently arrested by officers from the Wembley Town Centre Team. The male was conveyed to police custody, where he was processed and later remanded to appear before the court the following day. PCSO Baker responded to a report of an assault and criminal damage incident that was actively taking place. Upon arrival, the suspect had made off from the scene prior to police attendance. PCSO Baker promptly carried out an area search of the surrounding streets and successfully located a male matching the description provided. The male was detained on suspicion of assault and criminal damage pending the arrival of further police resources. Within approximately five minutes, a response unit arrived and took over the investigation. The matter was dealt with swiftly and professionally, ensuring the suspect was appropriately dealt with and that enquiries could continue without delay. PCSO Baker has issued two Anti-Social Behaviour Warning Notices to two males who were street drinking and behaving in a rowdy and disorderly manner in a public place. The males were causing nuisance and annoyance to residents and members of the public through their behaviour, which was having a negative impact on the local area. Officers engaged with both individuals, explained the concerns that had been raised, and provided words of advice regarding their conduct. Both males were informed that continued anti-social behaviour and breaches of the Brent Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) may result in further enforcement action, including the issue of PSPO Fixed Penalty Notices. |
